How WHYUS? works

WHYUS? is a live market screener for on-chain trading. It reads public market data straight from third-party providers in your browser and shows it as one sortable table — no account, no server-side storage, and nothing you have to install.

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Where the data comes from

Two independent providers feed the app, and every row is tagged with the one it came from:

TagProviderWhat it suppliesRefresh
DSDEX ScreenerPrices, liquidity, FDV, transactions, boosts, token profiles, new poolsVisible rows every second; the wider universe every 60 seconds
GTGeckoTerminalTrending pools across the supported networks, with price, reserve and 24h activityEvery 60 seconds, fetched by the app's own server

Both are public APIs that need no key. DEX Screener is called by your browser, so your IP address reaches it under its own privacy policy. GeckoTerminal is fetched by the app's own server instead, because its free tier throttles by caller and refuses some browser requests outright — that means one caller spends the ~30 requests/minute allowance, the source keeps working for every visitor, and your IP is not shared with it.

Pairs are matched per token: when both providers know the same token, the DEX Screener row is kept because it carries more detail, and GeckoTerminal rows fill in pools only it tracks. The two are interleaved so both providers appear on the first page.

GeckoTerminal is only polled once a minute because its free tier allows roughly 30 requests per minute. The per-second live tick therefore runs on DEX Screener alone, so the numbers you watch tick stay inside that limit.

Using the screener

  • Trending — the default mix: boosted, newly profiled and takeover tokens plus the busiest pairs per chain.
  • Top — sorted by 24h volume.
  • Gainers — sorted by 24h price change, with illiquid pools (under $5k liquidity) filtered out so the list is not dominated by empty markets.
  • New Pairs — sorted by pool creation time, so the newest listings are first.
  • Chain filters — each chain button carries its real logo; pick one to narrow every tab to that chain.
  • Search — type a symbol, token name, pair or contract address to search live across every chain. Search results refresh every second.
  • Pinned listings — WHYUS?'s own token leads the list as row #1, marked PINNED ahead of the live ranking on every tab, with the same provider data as any other row. The team can pin further listings (a partner, or a house campaign) above the ranking, in its own order, and they all step aside while you search or filter by another chain.
  • Batches of 100 — tokens are listed in batches of 100 rows: page 1 is 1–100, page 2 is 101–200, and so on, up to 400 rows per tab. The visible batch is the part that refreshes every second.
  • Pair pages — click any row for that pool's own chart, drawn from live candles: line or candlestick, from 1m to 1D, next to its liquidity, FDV, market cap, age and 5m/1h/6h/24h changes, with links to the token's own site and socials and a direct link to trade.

Connecting a wallet

The header connects the wallet you already have installed. Press Connect wallet and the dialog lists every wallet the app supports, grouped by chain family and shown with the wallet's own logo:

FamilyWallets
SolanaPhantom, Solflare, Backpack
EVMMetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, Rabby, OKX Wallet, Rainbow, plus any other injected EIP-1193 wallet (Brave, Frame, …)

A wallet that is installed in your browser is marked Detected in this browser and its Connect button is live; one that is not shows what it is and a link to get it. EVM wallets are found through the standard EIP-6963 announcement, with a fallback to the older provider on window.ethereum, so a wallet still works even when it does not announce itself. Every EVM network the wallet offers — Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Polygon and the rest — is usable; the connected network is shown next to the address.

To prove you control the address, the app asks the wallet to sign a plain-text challenge. That signature cannot move funds, approve tokens or authorise a transaction — it only proves ownership. The address, the challenge text and the signature stay in your browser: they are written to this site's local storage and are never sent anywhere by the app. Disconnect any time from the same dialog, which also clears the stored record.

WHYUS? is a read-only viewer. It has no smart contracts, holds no funds, and cannot trade on your behalf. Always confirm what a wallet prompt is asking before you approve it.

Boosting a token

Token teams can buy a paid placement on the screener from the Boost page. Nine packages are sold, each a length of placement rather than a change to the data:

PackagePricePlacement
1 Hour$91 hour
6 Hours$256 hours
12 Hours$3912 hours
24 Hours$691 day — the most popular term
7 Days$1797 days
14 Days$29914 days
30 Days$49930 days
60 Days$84960 days
90 Days$1,14990 days

A request is submitted with the chain, the token's contract address and a contact handle. The app first checks that a live pair for that contract exists on the chain, then the fee is paid in one transfer from the buyer's own wallet:

  • Solana — the fee is paid in SOL to EeGxCzMNh1YDNKuhDdApPDLEBQwYtfk3656AXbdJ1Ner.
  • EVM networks — the fee is paid in the network's own coin (ETH on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Linea, Blast, Ink, Scroll or Unichain; BNB on BNB Chain; POL on Polygon; AVAX on Avalanche; and the native coin of Cronos, Sonic, Mantle and Celo) to 0xaaD8D32Cf2D3CDd1E4A4aF57896A9F1cAf65954F.
  • Any other chain — the placement is paid on Solana in SOL, so nothing has to be bridged to buy one.

The amount is the package price converted into that coin at the live DEX Screener rate, and it is shown in full — coin, amount and treasury address — before the wallet asks for approval. WHYUS? holds no key, takes no card and never moves funds itself: the transfer is signed by the buyer. A request whose fee has been sent shows in the queue as PAID with its transaction; once that transaction is confirmed the placement is marked LIVE and appears in the boosted strip at the top of the screener for the length of the package.

A boost buys visibility only. It never changes a price, a volume, a transaction count or a liquidity figure, it is always labelled as a placement, and it is not an endorsement or an opinion about the token. The catalogue, the queue and the treasury wallets are all readable from the public API.

Known limits

  • Market data is third-party and can be late, wrong or manipulated. Prices on illiquid pairs move on tiny trades.
  • Tokens without a chain icon on the providers' CDNs show a three-letter monogram instead of a logo.
  • A provider outage, rate limit or network hiccup empties its share of the table until the next refresh — the app retries on the normal refresh cycle rather than showing stale numbers as live.
  • Boosted rows, like every row, come from the providers. A placement gets a token into the strip on the screener; it cannot create or correct the market data behind it.
  • GMGN and Photon are not wired in: neither publishes a public API, and both reject server requests. Any listing that reaches you through them is visible only when the two providers above also track it.
  • Token logos and chain marks belong to their owners and are shown for identification only.
